LAND ART PROJECT (2017)
Kashan_ghavamzang
one of the most important works I have done was the Land Art project, in 2017 ,which is one of the first land art projects in Iran. Over one year we researched land art and land artists, designed and made models, and drew drawings that in the end led to our ideas taking shape. In seven groups with seven ideas, and after one year of testing our initial ideas, we reached a point that we travelled to a location near Kashan. Out of reach , away from all the commotion , and more unmediated , we opted for a desert so as to play the imagination more freely. We carried out our ideas near old castles in the middle of the desert .Our group of four people, we installed a project called ‘Being that not being’. This was installed in the middle of one of the castles of Ghavamzang, that took a week to complete.
‘Being that not being’, is the border between fantasy and reality, that when you are confronted with it you question which scene in our interpretation is closer to being.
In the land art, during the day you could see spheres embedded in the sand on the ground, and it seemed as if the sky had come to the ground. During the night and in the afternoon, we had a performance and inserted lights in the spheres so that it seemed as if in the night the stars had come to the ground.
Thankfully this project, caught the attention of many members of the public, artists, curators, critics and the artistic community of Iran. Many articles were published in newspapers and many news channels discussed the project. For this new year we have planned to have an exhibition to display some of the photos and professional videos that were created during the project, and we are also due to publish a book about this project.
